As befitting a rapidly growing center of commerce, Greensboro has outgrown seven courthouses, with the courts now occupying an eighth. This picture shows the county's seventh courthouse, located on West Market Street across from the Federal Courthouse. Designed by architect Harry Barton of Greensboro, who designed numerous other North Carolina buildings, this courthouse is an excellent example of neoclassical revival style-simple in form and grand in detail. It is considered one of the state's most sophisticated buildings.
