This stunning courthouse in the valley of Sylva, framed by rolling hills, is a breathtaking site. It was built in 1914 after the county seat was moved from nearby Webster. Local merchants raised $10,000 of the total $30,000 construction cost, the result of which is a harmonious neoclassical revival-style structure with a Corinthian portico. Topped with a three-stage cupola, the Jackson County courthouse dramatically changes in appearance with each change of seasons.
