Northampton County Courthouse, Jackson

Built in 1859, the Northampton County Courthouse remains as the county's most prestigious building. It is believed that Henry King Burgwyn designed this courthouse, which rests on a high basement and is made of white-painted brick laid in common bond. A four-columned, pedimented Ionic portico gives the structure a commanding presence. In form, it is one of the most handsome antebellum structures in the state.
