Orange County Courthouse, Hillsborough

This architectural gem was designed by Captain John Berry and built by him in 1845. Its Greek revival temple-form and Doric portico make for a beautiful Spartan entrance. Hillsborough was important during colonial times; it was the site of the constitutional convention, which rejected the federal constitution in 1788 before final ratification the following year. Now the old courthouse stands in remembrance of those times, serving as a community events center in historic Hillsborough.
