In Salisbury's Historic District, the old courthouse and the one that replaced it sit side by side. Built in 1855, the older structure (left) remains one of Salisbury's most prominent buildings. It boasts a Greek Temple of Justice style. The newer courthouse (right) was completed in 1914 just before the outbreak of World War I. It is a neoclassical revival-style structure that is fronted by a huge four-columned Ionic portico. This courthouse was designed by architect A. Ten Eyck Brown of Atlanta.
