Brooks Pierce, a business law firm specializing in all aspects of business law, with over 110 lawyers and three offices, seeks a full-time Legal Assistant for our Greensboro office to assist in the Estate, Banking and Tax Service practice areas.

Located in downtown Greensboro, the office hours are 8:30 am – 5:00 p.m. Some overtime and a flexible schedule are expected. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a mid-to-large sized law firm
  • Attention to detail including formatting, proofreading, and grammar
  • Ability to take direction from attorneys and prioritize accordingly
  • Work well with others in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a ready-to-respond attitude
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF Converter
  • Notary public required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Word processing, transcribe dictation, draft, and finalize correspondence and documents
  • Maintain filing system including timely filing, opening, and closing files
  • Perform internet searches and library searches
  • Maintain corporate minute books and stock transfer ledgers
  • Prepare and file SEC EDGAR filings
  • Prepare estate documents and coordinate document execution with clients and attorneys to final product
  • Prepare EIN Applications for States and Corporations
  • Create and maintain structure charts
  • Compile electronic document databases
  • Reserve conference rooms and schedule set-ups for client conferences
  • Attorney time entry, client billing, travel and expense reimbursement
  • Calendar management
  • Assist on special projects (in other practice areas)
  • Other tasks as needed
