Dan McGinn has been representing North Carolina businesses in labor and employment matters since joining Brooks Pierce in 1971. With a background in both labor and employment matters, he has been involved in every aspect of the labor and employment field.

Over the years, Dan has represented small businesses and large corporations, including American Telephone and Telegraph Company, BellSouth, Burlington Industries, Inc., Carolina Telephone & Telegraph Company, Hearst Corporation, Libbey Owens Ford Company, Lorillard Tobacco Company, Olin Corporation, GTE, The Kroger Company, Norfolk Southern Corporation, Sprint Corporation, Time Warner Cable, Volvo Trucks, N.A., Western Electric Company, and Weyerhaeuser Company.

Experience at Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP: 

  • Has represented companies in well over one hundred (100) labor and employment civil suits in federal and state courts
  • Has represented companies in actual trials of labor and employment cases in approximately twenty five (25) civil suits, including five (5) class action trials
  • U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals - Has appeared in oral arguments in fifteen (15) cases
  • U.S. Supreme Court - Appearance in Pons v. Lorillard
  • Representation of companies in over one hundred fifty (150) labor arbitration hearings
  • Has served as chief company spokesman in numerous union contract negotiations
  • Has advised companies in numerous union organizational campaigns
  • Has represented companies in handling numerous EEOC and NLRB charges, including unfair labor practice hearings
