Kathleen grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. After making her way to the warmer clime of North Carolina and establishing herself as a business and copy writer, she received her law degree from the North Carolina Central University School of Law Evening Program. While simultaneously juggling law school and her full-time writing career, Kathleen was also Articles Editor for the North Carolina Central University School of Law Journal, earned her law degree summa cum laude, and graduated first in the combined 2003 class of Day and Evening students.
After graduation from law school, Kathleen was law clerk to the Honorable Allyson K. Duncan of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, from 2003-04. At Brooks Pierce, Kathleen practices commercial litigation, has successfully conducted solo trials in state courts, and has appeared in state and federal trial and appellate courts. She also practices criminal defense law.
Kathleen is an accomplished athlete, having been named the North Carolina Female Amateur Athlete of the Year in 1996 and represented North Carolina’s 1999 bid to the United States Olympic Committee to host the Pan-American Games as an Athlete Representative. Competitiveness comes naturally to her.
