J. Lee Lloyd

Lee Lloyd brings to our clients a unique background in business law, investment banking, accounting and finance, having previously served as Vice President - Investment Banking/Mergers & Acquisitions of Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York, NY, and as founder and Managing Director of Lloyd & Company, a boutique investment banking firm in Greensboro and Charlotte, NC. He began his professional career as a certified public accountant in the tax group of Arthur Andersen & Co.

Lee's practice is concentrated in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions, entrepreneurial business development and general corporate law. He provides multi-disciplinary strategic advice and legal services in connection with merger and acquisition transactions, private equity and venture capital investments, leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, senior, mezzanine and subordinated debt financings, shareholder disputes, licensing agreements, and complex projects including the development and financing of sports stadiums and research parks.

Lee has served as an active volunteer leading numerous entrepreneurship initiatives in North Carolina and the Piedmont Triad region. His practice includes advising start-ups, seed-stage, early-stage and emerging growth companies on legal and financial aspects of business strategy, funding alternatives and strategic partnerships. He is also regularly engaged as an expert consultant in business litigation matters.

Lee publishes a microblog with commentary on current legal, M&A, finance and entrepreneurship topics on twitter @LeeLloyd. He also created and publishes The M&A Daily, an online, newspaper-format compilation of deal-related articles, blog posts and videos that have been shared within the last 24 hours on twitter.

Lee has provided strategic advice and negotiated significant transactions for a broad range of publicly-held and privately-held companies and their owners, including Waste Industries USA, Inc., Dell Computer Corporation, the National Football League, the ESPRIT apparel companies, Patagonia, Inc., Einstein/Noah Bagel Corp., Gateway University Research Park, Russell Corporation, Verizon Communications Inc., 3M Company, Sears, Roebuck & Co., Unilever N.V., West Point-Pepperell, Inc. and Kindermusik International, Inc.
