As part of the comprehensive two-day North Carolina Bar Association 2010 Annual Review, Brooks Pierce partner Kearns Davis presented the Federal Criminal Case Law Update on Friday, October 8. His presentation included a discussion of key recent decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

The Sports and Entertainment Law Association held its first Sports and Entertainment Law Symposium on Friday, April 16 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The Symposium featured attorneys practicing in these fields throughout the state of North Carolina with keynote speakers William Traurig, General Counsel for the Carolina Hurricanes and Coe Ramsey, Entertainment and Music Lawyer with Brooks Pierce.

Brooks Pierce partners Mark Prak and Charles Coble updated Sunshine Day attendees on government transparency, saying that threats to openness in government in North Carolina remain. Coble, editor of the newsroom law blog, discussed the changes the state has made in the past few years to address openness, stressing there’s still a ways to go.
