April 27, 2017

Brooks Pierce attorney Nicole Crawford has been named to the Triad Business Journal’s 2017 Outstanding Women in Business, an annual listing of the region’s top female professionals.

The 2017 honorees were selected based on their leadership in business and philanthropy, reflecting a diversity of industries, experiences and expertise. This year’s class was honored on April 27.

“At Brooks Pierce, we encourage our attorneys to not only be leaders in their field, but also leaders in our community,” said Reid Phillips, Brooks Pierce's managing partner. “We are proud that Nicole is being recognized both for the work she does on behalf of our clients, but also for her commitment to a variety of causes and organizations.”

A partner in the Greensboro office, Crawford is an experienced labor and employment attorney, counseling both large and small companies in policies and practices to avoid litigation and representing them in front of federal and state administrative agencies. Crawford assists clients with union grievances and negotiations as well as union arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board. She has also successfully represented clients in matters involving discrimination based on race, sex, and religion, harassment and retaliation, covenants not to compete, and whistleblower claims.

Crawford has received numerous professional recognitions and honors, including being named to Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite,” “North Carolina Super Lawyers” and “Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business” multiple times.

A frequent speaker on employment law issues, Crawford was presenting at a conference in Colorado the day of the awards ceremony and was unable to attend. Her daughter, Ellington, accepted the award on her behalf.
