Brooks Pierce partner Marc Bishop was recently appointed by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper as a member of the state’s General Statutes Commission. He will serve a two-year term.

The General Statutes Commission advises and cooperates with the General Assembly’s Legislative Services Office on researching, preparing and publishing laws and recommends new laws for consideration.

“It’s an honor to be appointed to the General Statutes Commission,” said Bishop. “I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Commission.”

Bishop provides counsel to clients on matters of general business representation, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and the financing of companies. He is also a member of the board of advisors at Elon University School of Law and a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Business Law Section.
