Brooks Pierce partner Nicole Crawford has been elected to a three-year term as a Director of the North Carolina Zoological Society. The Society is a private, non-profit organization that supports the North Carolina Zoo.
The Zoological Society provides funding for all animals and all exhibit plants purchased by the Zoo and supports the training facility as well as zoological medicine, animal enrichment, wildlife rehabilitation, and conservation programs.
Nicole focuses her legal practice on labor and employment and litigation. She advises employers on employee discipline and discharge matters and has extensive experience handling terminations. Nicole defends employers in Employment Security Commission hearings and appeals; charges and lawsuits under North Carolina’s Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act; whistle-blower claims; and EEOC charges and lawsuits on employment discrimination and retaliation claims, including age, race, sex, disability, and national origin, as well as sexual harassment and equal pay claims. She also works with unionized employers and handles grievance issues and arbitrations for those clients.
