Greensboro is the third largest city in North Carolina. It is located in Guilford County, in the centrally located Piedmont area of North Carolina.
The area is home to a number of major corporations, including Lincoln Financial Group, Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation, Lorillard Corporation and VF Corporation. Federal Express Corporation is constructing a $300 million cargo hub at Piedmont Triad International Airport. The International Home Furnishings Market in High Point attracts some 140,000 visitors from around the world twice yearly.
Major cultural and recreational events include the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, the Eastern Music Festival, the Wyndham Championship professional golf tournament, and the annual men's basketball tournaments for the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southern Conference. The latter two are hosted in the recently expanded 23,000-seat Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
The City is home to five colleges and universities: The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina A&T State University, Bennett College, Guilford College, and Greensboro College.
