Brooks Pierce Partner Speaks on Recent Changes in the Federal Criminal Justice System
Brooks Pierce partner Kearns Davis spoke recently to the annual joint meeting of the Guilford Inn of Court and the Chief Justice Joseph Branch Inn of Court, addressing recent changes in the federal criminal justice system. Davis represented the private federal bar in a panel discussion alongside United States Magistrate Judge Joi Elizabeth Peake of the Middle District of North Carolina, Assistant U.S. Attorney Anand Ramaswamy, Federal Public Defender Eric Placke, and First Assistant Federal Public Defender Kathleen Gleason. Guilford Inn President Jonathan Wall organized and moderated the program.
Davis is a former federal prosecutor and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has tried jury cases at all levels of federal and North Carolina trial courts, both civil and criminal, and he represents clients in trial and appellate courts across the country. He served as president of the North Carolina Bar Association in 2016-17.
