"Drone Use Creates Opportunities and Risks"

02.02.2016

Drones continue to grow in popularity in a variety of industries, and construction is no exception as companies can use them for aerial photography, inspections and to help monitor worker safety.

Attorneys Stephen Hartzell and Arty Bolick wrote an article for Construction Executive Magazine outlining the many ways drones can benefit the industry, and also highlighting the regulatory environment potential users need to be aware of.

The article says: “Despite the recent surge in drone use, the legal framework for operating drones on construction sites and for other business purposes is still being developed. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is formulating its rules for all non-recreational uses of drones, and the latest intel suggests it may be June or later before the agency completes the process of integrating drones that weigh 55 pounds or less into the national airspace.”
