Brooks Pierce Partners Present on Federal Opportunity Zone Program

Brooks Pierce partners Tony Barwick and Adam Tarleton recently presented on “Opportunities for Developers under the Federal Opportunity Zone Program.” The event was hosted by Dwight Bassett, the economic development director for the town of Chapel Hill, at the Carolina Inn on April 2.

The presentation covered the federal tax incentives available for investments in areas designated as “Opportunity Zones” and the requirements for taking advantage of these incentives. Tarleton and Barwick went into further detail on working capital and planning issues that may arise in structuring an opportunity zone investment.

Barwick regularly assists clients in successfully structuring, negotiating and completing a wide variety of complex transactional matters. Tarleton counsels clients on complex federal and state tax laws impacting their businesses and provides practical advice on structuring business transactions in the most tax-efficient way possible.
