Charles Baldwin Speaks at NC Association of CPAs Industry Conference
Brooks Pierce partner Charles Baldwin recently led a discussion on exporting at the North Carolina Association of CPAs Members in Business and Industry Spring Conference. The event, which brought together more than 400 accounting professionals, was held at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Baldwin led a session titled “Everything You Wanted to Know About Import/Export Laws—But Were Afraid to Ask.” A seasoned international business attorney, he shared insight on the U.S. laws and regulations that are most likely to impact businesses, and discussed customs requirements, U.S. export controls, supply chain security and other best practices for companies seeking to move goods and services across international borders. The discussion centered on internal controls, including processes, risk assessments and allocation of resources in these areas.
Based in the firm’s Wilmington office, Baldwin has diverse experience in international and transportation law and is recognized as one of the state’s leading attorneys in these areas. Baldwin represents corporations on a variety of cross-border issues, including imports, exports, cargo claims and Federal Maritime Commission matters. He also serves as village attorney for the Village of Bald Head Island, North Carolina.
