10.17.2019

Brooks Pierce partner Jennifer Van Zant recently served as moderator for a student Q&A session with Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer in connection with Guilford College’s Bryan Series. The session was held Oct. 2 at the Greensboro Coliseum and 50 Guilford College students had the opportunity to ask Justice Breyer questions.

For more than 20 years, the Guilford College Bryan Series has brought thought-provoking speakers to the Guilford College campus and the greater Greensboro community — not just thought leaders — but paradigm shifters whose ideas spark the next step forward and get us all thinking and talking about exciting possibilities. Other speakers for the 2019-2020 Guilford College Bryan Series include former first lady Laura Bush and Pulitzer Prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Van Zant focuses her practice on complex business litigation and class action defense. She represents businesses on a wide range of disputes before federal courts and the North Carolina Business Court and works closely with clients to make paths toward resolution. She has been elected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© since 2007 for antitrust litigation, bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, securities litigation and banking and finance litigation, and has been named Greensboro “Lawyer of the Year” in one of her respective practice areas five times. Van Zant has been recognized in North Carolina Super Lawyers every year since 2010, named one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in North Carolina” every year since 2012 and one of the “Top 100 Lawyers in the State” each year since 2014. She is a member of the North Carolina Legal Elite Hall of Fame and was named one of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s “Women of Justice” for 2019.
