Stephen Hartzell, a partner in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce, spoke to the North Carolina Pork Council on legal issues relating to the use of drones and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The February 2 talk was a part of the council’s annual conference, which was held in Raleigh.
Hartzell’s presentation highlighted a variety of favorable opportunities that drones are creating for hog farmers and other pork industry stakeholders. Both the Federal Aviation Authority’s regulations and North Carolina’s UAS laws were discussed, along with risk mitigation tips for farmers interested in drone operations.
