Brooks Pierce partner Thomas Varnum will participate in a panel at the Longleaf Film Festival on May 12 at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. The Longleaf Film Festival is an annual two-day event that highlights films connected to North Carolina. This year’s festival will feature over 70 short- and feature-length documentary and narrative films telling historic and contemporary stories.

The panel, titled “Distribution Platforms and How to Get There?” will compare the pros and cons of different content distribution platforms and advise on ways filmmakers can get their projects distributed on each one.

Varnum practices film and entertainment law, working with individuals and organizations active in all types of projects on projects ranging from film and television, to online videos and other media. He also works regularly with independent producers and filmmakers, counseling them through the pre-production, production, post-production and distribution processes. He serves as an adjunct professor of entertainment law at the Elon University School of Law and is an avid supporter of the North Carolina film industry, serving as the chairman of the board for the Cucalorus Film Foundation.
