Beth Langley Discusses Inclement Weather Preparation with Triad Business Journal

Triad Business Journal

Brooks Pierce partner Beth Langley was recently quoted by the Triad Business Journal in an article written in anticipation of Hurricane Florence’s arrival. The article urges businesses to have a proper plan in place for their employees in the event of inclement weather.

Specifically, Langley emphasized the importance of internal communication, office safety procedures and having a plan in place to guarantee proper and timely employee compensation. In addition, Langley advised on the importance of creating a strong crisis management system and urged companies to set aside adequate time to review rules and regulations regarding employees injured on the job in adverse conditions.

“A crisis management team may mitigate issues after the storm. Having a team communicate key information – office closures, websites and phone numbers to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the United Way or the unemployment office – can allow employees to seek help without having to go through the business,” Langley said.
