Bob Saunders Elected Chair of Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Brooks Pierce partner Robert Saunders was elected chairman of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce board of directors for 2015. Saunders will lead the chamber’s efforts to advance the business interests of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area, making it a sustainable community where businesses can thrive.

“Brooks Pierce has a deep tradition of community service, and I am pleased that Bob will continue this tradition as chair of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce,” said Ed Winslow, the firm’s managing partner. “I know that Bob is very committed to his work with the chamber, which he has done for many years. He has a great interest in economic development in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area, and he has the skills to make a real contribution.”

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce is governed by a 32-member board of directors. The chamber advocates for members' business interests and the interests of the local business community, and connects members with the people and information they need to thrive. Brooks Pierce partner Arty Bolick also serves on the chamber’s board as general counsel.

Saunders is a longtime active member of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. A tax and business lawyer with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, Saunders primarily counsels tax-exempt organizations, both charitable and non-charitable, on a wide range of federal and state tax controversy matters, estate planning, and tax-exempt financing.
