Brooks Pierce Attorney Discusses Esports Lawsuit with ESPN.com
Brooks Pierce attorney Ryan Fairchild recently discussed a lawsuit involving professional Fortnite player Tfue, who filed a suit against the esports organization FaZe Clan.
The article, entitled “Tfue’s contract lays out revenue splits with FaZe,” discusses the details of the lawsuit and the contract between Tfue and FaZe Clan. According to the article, Tfue alleged that FaZe Clan signed him to an oppressive contract that entitled the team to 80% of the brand deals they negotiate.
Tfue and his attorney also filed a complaint with the California Labor Commissioner’s Office stating that FaZe Clan violated the California Talent Agencies Act.
“The fact that they are seeking to void the agreement based on the [Talent Agencies Act] is something I’ve long thought could be done,” said Fairchild. “I honestly have wanted a test case for a long time.”
