08.11.2026

Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce the addition of Rudy Gaines as Director of Business Development and Marketing. Gaines will lead strategic client development activities across the firm, focusing on elevating brand visibility and implementing business development to support the firm’s growth strategy.

Gaines joins Brooks Pierce after serving as president of Creative Business Growth, where he collaborated with law firms, affiliate groups, and attorneys across the country on all phases of business development. Prior to that, he served as Client Service Director at a multi-national law firm, working with attorneys across multiple offices and affiliate groups on marketing and business strategy, as well as practical approaches to prospective clients.

"Rudy Gaines brings a rare combination of market perspective and hands-on experience building business development programs inside law firms," said Jimmy Adams, managing partner of Brooks Pierce. "His work advising attorneys and affiliate groups aligns directly with our growth strategy, and we look forward to the impact he will have across our offices."

In this role, Gaines will partner directly with Brooks Pierce affiliate group leaders to strengthen client relationships and identify emerging market opportunities, drawing on his background advising attorneys nationally on branding and business development.

"Brooks Pierce has a long-standing reputation for business-focused counsel and a deep commitment to its clients and communities," said Gaines. "I’m glad to partner with their affiliate group leaders across the firm to strengthen those client relationships and help identify new opportunities for growth."

Gaines holds a BFA in Directing from Auburn University, and spent many years working in theater and film. He is active in the legal marketing and intellectual property communities, serving on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina IP Alliance as Co-Chair of Ecosystem Collaboration, and as a leader in the International Trademark Association's Pathway to Speakership working group. Gaines writes a column for World Trademark Review, “In-House Confidential”, featuring anonymous, off-the-record interviews with corporate counsel, and is authoring a forthcoming book of the same name.  He is a frequent public speaker on business development and personal branding and is a contributing feature writer for Harbert Business Magazine.
