Brooks Pierce partners Kearns Davis and Greg Gaught will address significant legal developments at the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) 2026 Annual Review, a two-day program on October 15–16.
For the 22nd year, Davis will provide a Federal Criminal Case Law Update, examining significant recent decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Attorney Jan Pritchett will deliver an update on state criminal cases from the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Gaught and Corri Hopkins, a partner at Parker Poe, will provide the Civil Law Update. Their presentation will unpack key recent civil decisions from the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals, as well as notable developments in substantive civil law, the Rules of Civil Procedure, and the Rules of Evidence.
Davis is a former federal prosecutor, a Regent and Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a past president of the NCBA. He has tried jury cases at all levels of federal and North Carolina trial courts, and he represents clients in U.S. trial and appellate courts across the country. He founded Brooks Pierce’s white-collar defense practice in 2007.
Gaught litigates cases in federal and state courts across North Carolina and represents clients before the Fourth Circuit and North Carolina’s appellate courts. Greg joined Brooks Pierce after practicing at an international law firm and clerking for judges on the Eastern District of North Carolina and Fourth Circuit.
