Elizabeth Spainhour Featured in Law.com's "How I Made it to Firm Leadership" Series
In a profile published on Law.com as part of the publication's "How I Made it to Firm Leadership" series, Elizabeth Spainhour, partner at Brooks Pierce, provides unique insights on her career journey, including being named partner at Brooks Pierce in 2012 and to the management committee in 2021.
In the article, Spainhour offers advice to attorneys wishing to ascend to firm leadership including how she would mentor her younger self, how to keep teams motivated and what qualities a law firm leader should possess.
"Be yourself. This was very difficult advice for me to accept as a young attorney. Often, lawyers feel that they need to constantly present themselves as stoic warriors—sometimes we have to—but that really isn’t who I am at my core. I found over time that my mentors were right about this. Giving my best advice and doing my best work all while being myself was just as good, if not better," she said.
Spainhour represents media, communications and technology companies in a variety of regulatory and business matters. She also provides counsel to businesses on key issues involving privacy, digital marketing and the rapidly changing digital environment. She is a board-certified specialist in Privacy and Information Security Law by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization.
