Elizabeth Troutman Featured in Triad Business Journal Article on Elon-Queens Merger
In an article published by Triad Business Journal, Brooks Pierce Partner Elizabeth Troutman discusses the recent merger of Elon University and Queens University and how the combination may help both schools.
In the article, Troutman explained that when institutions are looking to merge, they should target organizations that complement what they already do, rather than overlap. It’s also crucial that proper and thoughtful planning goes into how a merger looks.
“I think these nonprofit organizations should always be thinking about the impact on their public and the students and the faculty, and so proceeding in a really thoughtful way, giving people enough time to digest what is happening.”
Troutman advises public school boards of education, private educational institutions, colleges and universities on a myriad of education issues, and litigates on behalf of educational institutions in state and federal courts. She also helps clients in a variety of industries navigate the complexities of human resources and employment law issues, including employment policies and employee separation.
