Jennifer Van Zant Selected as North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2022 Leader in the Law

Brooks Pierce partner Jennifer Van Zant has been selected as a North Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2022 Leader in the Law. The award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on April 14. The Leaders in the Law honors influential people in the North Carolina legal industry who have gone above and beyond in their profession and their community.

Van Zant focuses her practice on complex business litigation, often working on cases that involve multiple parties in multiple courts, coordinating among joint prosecution or defense groups. She regularly represents businesses before federal courts and the North Carolina Business Court.

She is president of the Chief Justice Joseph Branch American Inn of Court where she previously served as membership chair and has been on the board of directors since 2014. Van Zant also served as chair of the North Carolina Business Court Rules Committee, a group of more than 40 attorneys that propose rules and guidelines to help cases in this unique court flow more smoothly.

She has received several professional and peer recognitions including being selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in Litigation—Securities (Greensboro “Lawyer of the Year” 2014 and 2020), Antitrust Litigation (Greensboro “Lawyer of the Year” 2015, 2018 and 2021), Bet-the-Company Litigation (Greensboro “Lawyer of the Year” 2017), Banking and Finance Litigation (Greensboro “Lawyer of the Year” 2022), Commercial Litigation (2007-2022) and Antitrust Law (2009-2022). She has been recognized by her peers for inclusion in Business North Carolina's “Legal Elite” in Antitrust Law (2010), Litigation (2018, 2020-2021), Appellate (2021) and Young Guns (2008); she has also been recognized in the publication’s “Legal Elite Hall of Fame” for Antitrust Law. Benchmark Litigation has named her a “Rising Star” (2011-2014), a “Future Star” (2015, 2017), a “Local Litigation Star” in Competition/Antitrust (2017-2022) and Top 250 Women in Litigation (2015-2021). She has also been named one of North Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly Women of Justice (2019) and one of the Triad Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business (2016).
