In an article published in Law.com, Brooks Pierce Managing Partner Jimmy Adams discusses the firm’s expansion to Charlotte and its place in the state’s largest legal market.
Adams noted that Brooks Pierce serves a different type of client, such as community banks, than the larger firms in the city, which work with large regional and national financial institutions. He added that as larger firms attract more talent to the city, firms like Brooks Pierce can compete for associates because they have more opportunity to gain experience, while simultaneously not feeling crowded by the expanding market.
“We fill a spot in the legal market that those large firms can’t,” Adams said. “They don’t deal with the same types of clients, with the same types of issues and areas like we do…The clients we deal with don’t want an Am Law 50 or an Am Law 100, and they certainly don’t want to be paying the rates of an Am Law 50 for matters.”
