Ryan Fairchild Quoted in Esports Insider Article
Brooks Pierce attorney Ryan Fairchild was recently quoted in a Jan. 8 Esports Insider article on COVID-19’s impact on esports tournaments.
The article, “Bayes Esports: The legal shifts in 2021 tournaments’ terms and conditions,” discusses what legal adjustments can be expected in tournaments this year, focusing on the terms and conditions of competitions, and data protection policies.
The article details how organizers of these previously scheduled events are now responsible for reaching agreements with sponsors, contractors, venues, and participants due to COVID-19.
“I have seen and even drafted documents that specifically try to address issues that might arise because of the COVID pandemic, separate from a Force Majeure clause,” Fairchild said.

His passion for esports derives from being a lifelong gamer, and he understands the various cultures and dynamics as well as legal, economic and structural issues facing the industry. He represents players, organizations and stakeholders in a variety of contract, intellectual property, employment and corporate issues.
