Collins Saint and Elizabeth Troutman Participate in NCBA Education Law Panel Discussion

Brooks Pierce attorneys Collins Saint and Elizabeth Troutman will take part in the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Education Law Section spotlight panel on March 2 at Brooks Pierce’s Greensboro office. The panel also includes Dionne Tunstall Jenkins, general counsel for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and certified consultant, Sarah Edwards, senior associate general counsel at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Jim Kim, hearing and compliance officer with Guilford County Schools and Tammy Kom, executive director and attorney at Legal Services for Children N.C. Panelists will discuss their career paths, current education law topics, what it means to be an education lawyer, and how to develop or transition into a legal career representing education institutions.

Saint advises and litigates on behalf of public and private educational institutions and school boards on an array of education law issues, including special education and disability issues, civil rights laws, and tort claims. He also represents businesses in a variety of industries to resolve disputes, litigating in state and federal court when necessary. He has a particular focus on diversity and civil rights issues, including issues related to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and religion.

Troutman advises public school boards of education, private educational institutions, colleges and universities on a myriad of education issues, and litigates on behalf of educational institutions in state and federal courts. She also helps clients in a variety of industries navigate the complexities of human resources and employment law issues, including employment policies and employee separation.
