Overview

David Yontz represents clients in a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing and financing.

My Practices

  • David’s experience includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases and related agreements for office, industrial and retail premises. David began his career serving as real estate counsel for one of the largest privately held developers of destination centers in America. In that capacity, he drafted and negotiated hundreds of retail leases for regional and super-regional shopping centers. As outside counsel, he has expanded his leasing practice to include office and industrial asset classes, while continuing to perform a significant amount of retail leasing work. David has represented clients in lease negotiations with some of the largest companies in the world, for premises ranging in size from small to 100,000+ square feet.

  • David regularly represents buyers, sellers, developers and municipalities in the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate. He performs significant due diligence in connection with the transactions he handles, such as title, survey and environmental review. David’s experience includes a broad range of property types, from the acquisition of vacant land intended for future development to the disposition of shopping centers, industrial facilities and office buildings.

  • David’s practice includes the representation of both lenders and borrowers in connection with financing secured by commercial real estate, including acquisition loans, bridge loans and construction loans. As lender’s counsel, David has been praised for his ability to quickly maneuver complicated loan transactions while still assuring an appropriate level of diligence. As borrower’s counsel, David has been involved in numerous high profile financing transactions, including construction loans of up to $250,000,000.00.

About Me

I have always been fascinated with commercial real estate. I grew up in a rural town outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. When my parents would take us to big cities like New York or Atlanta, I can remember staring out of the window in awe of the skyscrapers. As a commercial real estate attorney, I find one of the most rewarding experiences to be witnessing the development of a new project in which a client was involved, whether it is the opening of a new restaurant or breaking ground on a new multi-family building.

When I am not practicing law, you will find me attempting to re-live my glory days while playing co-ed recreational softball, debating proper etiquette on the foosball table (e.g., no spinning), cheering passionately for the Wolfpack (often resulting in disappointment) or relaxing with my beautiful wife and our dog, Norman.
