Brooks Pierce Hosts Webinar on Navigating the CARES Act
Brooks Pierce attorneys Sue Young, Melissa Weaver, Josh Lingerfelt and Steve LaSota recently presented a webinar on the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
The webinar focused on the new law and its provisions for businesses, including: the Payment Protection Program (PPP) and loan forgiveness, tax credits and changes to employee benefit plan rules that provide relief to participants and plan sponsors.

Young is a transactional lawyer whose practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate law. A former accountant, she also has extensive experience serving as general corporate counsel to businesses in a wide variety of industries.
Weaver has practiced employee benefits law for 30 years. Having previously served as an in-house attorney, she has a unique understanding of the needs of business owners regarding the design and implementation of employee benefits and deferred compensation plans.
As a real estate development attorney and a former general counsel for community and regional banks, LaSota is well-versed in handling a wide variety of commercial transactions. With over 15 years of experience, he has handled extensive work in retail financial services and advised developers and lenders on nearly every aspect of commercial and residential real estate development and disposition.
Lingerfelt is a transactional attorney, focusing on federal income tax issues related to the structuring and formation of investment funds, REIT transactions and compliance, securities offerings, debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and complex domestic and cross-border transactions. He is admitted to practice in New York and is currently seeking admission to the North Carolina State Bar.
