As a real estate development attorney and a former general counsel for community and regional banks, Steve LaSota is well-versed in handling a wide variety of commercial transactions. Steve has advised developers and lenders on nearly every aspect of commercial and residential real estate development, financing, and disposition and handled extensive work in the retail financial services industry.

My Practices

  • Steve works with real estate owners, developers, public school boards of education and institutional investors on office, retail, hospitality, industrial, school, and multi-family development projects, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) subsidized projects. He regularly drafts and negotiates purchase agreements, development agreements, economic incentive agreements, leases, and complex loan documents.

  • Steve works with businesses and exempt organizations in a variety of industries on general corporate transactions, corporate governance, complex contract drafting and negotiation, and risk management strategies. His previous experience includes counseling regional and community banks through multi-million dollar mergers, and launching multiple new lines of business in a complex regulatory environment.

  • A former vice president and general counsel to community and regional banks across the Southeast, Steve is highly experienced in handling complicated financial transactions for both borrowers and lenders. He understands the complicated regulatory framework that informs the financial services industry, and provides risk management and regulatory compliance counsel to clients of all sizes.

About Me

Aut invenium viam aut facium (“I shall either find a way or I shall make one.”)

   - attributed to Hannibal when told it was impossible to cross the Alps by elephant.

I’m consistently inspired by history’s great accomplishments and the pursuit of excellence. But no meaningful accomplishments occur in isolation. By cultivating relationships with my family, friends, colleagues, and clients, incredible accomplishments not only become possible, they become meaningful – and a whole lot more fun.
