A UNC-Greensboro alumni and active member of the Greensboro community, Outling has served as a councilman for the City of Greensboro since 2015. He also serves on the board of visitors for the UNC-Greensboro and on the board of directors for the Hospice Foundation of Greater Greensboro and Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc.
