11.19.2021

Brooks Pierce partner Ed Turlington and government relations advisor Drew Moretz will participate in the North Carolina Technology Association’s (NC TECH) panel discussion on the new state budget’s information technology (IT) investments on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. NC TECH is the statewide technology trade association and has over 600 members.

The panel discussion will focus on key IT-related investment and also provide a general overview of highlights from the budget, signed by Gov. Cooper.

Brooks Pierce is a long-time member of NC TECH and represents a number of the state’s leading technology companies. Turlington has served as state government counsel to NC TECH since 2005 and, along with colleague Moretz, advocates for the industry before the legislative and executive branches. These efforts include supporting funding for broadband internet in schools and businesses, working to improve technology procurement laws and helping write a state law to discourage litigation abuse by patent trolls.

Having served in key leadership positions in state and federal government, Turlington uses this experience to serve clients in a variety of industries, including health care, transportation and education. Much of his time is spent advising technology companies on legal issues and public policy matters.

Moretz is a member of the government relations team, providing public policy advice and legislative strategy to clients in a variety of industries. His experience prepares him to communicate effectively on behalf of the firm’s clients to legislators, state regulatory agencies and members of the executive branch. He is not licensed to practice law and does not provide legal advice.*
