Jamey Lowdermilk Serves as Panelist at American Bar Association Midyear Tax Meeting

Brooks Pierce attorney Jamey Lowdermilk recently spoke as a panelist at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) 2021 Midyear Tax Meeting. The panel took place on Jan. 26.

Entitled “Downsizing Income Taxes While Downsizing The Farm,” the panel discussed farm business eligibility under Chapter 12 of the Bankruptcy Code, special non-tax and tax rules applicable in Chapter 12 bankruptcies, and how to structure a Chapter 12 reorganization plan to maximize tax benefits.

Lowdermilk uses her experience as a law clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to inform her strategies for helping clients navigate the tumultuous waters of the bankruptcy process. She counsels clients on whether to file for bankruptcy and which chapter to pursue, and represents her clients in Bankruptcy Court.
