Brooks Pierce partner Ed Turlington spoke on August 27 at the annual meeting of the Recycling Association of North Carolina (RANC), the statewide trade association for metal and materials recyclers. The event was held in Wrightsville Beach, NC.
Turlington discussed the 2026 legislative session and its potential impact on RANC members. He has served since 2012 as State Government Counsel to RANC. He and the firm represent over 30 clients before North Carolina state government.
RANC was formed in 2012 to advocate for policies that create jobs through the recycling and repurposing of metal and other materials. Members support laws to fight metal and catalytic converter theft and work often with industry and law enforcement on these matters. The industry employs over 5,000 people in North Carolina with an average wage of over $50,000. RANC also provides education and training for its members.
Having served in key leadership positions in state and federal government, Ed Turlington uses this experience to serve clients in a variety of industries, including education, health care, information technology, and transportation. Much of his time is spent advising technology companies on legal issues and public policy matters.
