Brooks Pierce partner Justin Outling was recently appointed co-chair of University of North Carolina-Greensboro’s Board of Visitors. He has served on the board since 2013 and will co-chair the board with his wife, Cora Outling, the director of product development at Wells Hosiery and Apparel. The couple met during their freshman year at UNC-Greensboro and are both passionate advocates for the school.

The UNC-Greensboro Board of Visitors is an active group of volunteers that assists the university in a wide range of activities to help advance the school, including public relations, government relations and fundraising. Members of the Board of Visitors also serve ambassadors of the school, helping to inform members of the community about what is happening at the university.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today personally or professionally without my UNC-Greensboro education,” said Outling, “I look forward to continuing to give back back to an institution that means so much to me and to this community.”

Outling focuses his practice on business litigation and white-collar criminal defense. A Greensboro City Councilman, he was named to the Greensboro News & Record’s “Top 20 People of Influence” in 2017 and the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40” in 2016. Earlier this year, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in Business North Carolina's “Legal Elite” in the Young Guns category and in 2016 he was named “Outstanding Lawyer of the Year” by the Guilford County Association of Black Lawyers.
