D.J. O’Brien Appointed to Local Civil Rules Committee

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas D. Schroeder has appointed Brooks Pierce partner D.J. O’Brien to the Local Civil Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.

The Local Civil Rules Committee provides advice on the content of rules and makes revisions to govern the practice in the U.S. Middle District and ensure those practices are consistent with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. O’Brien’s three-year term on the committee began June 27, 2019.

O’Brien’s practice is constantly evolving to advise and represent employers in commercial litigation, employment law and regulatory enforcement actions. He has deep experience in all levels of federal and state appellate and trial courts in North Carolina, including the N.C. Business Court. In 2019 O’Brien was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for Employment Law – Management. He presently serves as secretary of the Middle District of North Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
