04.29.2013

Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Edwin L. West III was recently appointed by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners to the Southeastern Economic Development Commission for a four-year term.

The Southeastern Economic Development Commission was established in 1968 and is designated as an Economic Development District by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.  It strives to create new jobs, retain existing jobs, and stimulate economic and industrial growth in Southeastern North Carolina.

Located in the firm’s Wilmington office, West is a trial lawyer with a diverse practice.  He has handled matters in over fifty of North Carolina’s one hundred counties and tried numerous jury trials in state and federal court.  Unique for a trial lawyer, Ed’s experience includes serving as in-house counsel for a government contractor. This experience gave him a greater understanding of business operations and the day-to-day pressures business owners face. In addition to his business and corporate work, a significant part of West’s practice includes representing businesses and individuals under investigation for or charged with criminal violations.
