Justin Outling to Serve as UNC-Greensboro Commencement Speaker

Brooks Pierce partner Justin Outling has been invited to deliver the keynote address at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s (UNC-Greensboro) commencement on Dec. 7. More than 2,000 students are expected to receive degrees during the ceremony.

Outling, an alumnus of the university, serves as co-chair of the UNC-Greensboro Board of Visitors alongside his wife Cora, a fellow graduate of UNC-Greensboro. Outling graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 2005 with a degree in political science before receiving his law degree from Duke University.

In the university’s announcement of Outling as commencement speaker, UNC-Greensboro Chancellor Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. said: “Justin is a tremendous example of the level of achievement and impact that is possible for our graduates when they embrace the spirit of service, focus on community, and commitment to hard work that we teach every day at UNCG. We are proud of Justin’s accomplishments and the difference he makes in our hometown. I know he will bring wisdom and inspiration to the newest generation of Spartan alumni as they take their next giant steps forward as changemakers for our community, our region, and our world.”

Outling focuses his practice on business litigation and white-collar criminal defense. A Greensboro City Councilman, he was named to the Greensboro News & Record’s “Top 20 People of Influence” in 2017 and the Triad Business Journal’s “40 Leaders Under 40” in 2016.
