Brooks Pierce Attorneys Participate in NCBA Real Property Section Winter Program

Brooks Pierce attorneys Ashley Morgan and Bob Saunders will participate in the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) Real Property Section Winter Program, “Hot Topics in Real Property,” on February 20 at the North Carolina Bar Center in Cary, NC.

They will present “Nonprofits: Sales, Financing and More,” discussing the legal complexities of leasing, financing, federal income tax issues and tax considerations for real estate transactions. They will also provide tools to help guide clients through complex deals.

The Real Property Section deals with numerous issues affecting real property practice in North Carolina. The section drafts, monitors and comments upon state and federal proposed legislation and regulations affecting real property practice; monitors and comments upon State Bar ethics inquiries; sponsors and participates in pro bono projects; provides variety of CLE programs; conducts aggressive consumer protection/authorized practice program; hosts an active electronic discussion list; periodically updates and republishes forms book; and oversees NCBA copyrighted real property forms.

Morgan is a tax and business lawyer providing counsel to clients on tax planning and controversy matters as well as corporate and transactional matters. Prior to joining Brooks Pierce, Ashley served as a Special Deputy Attorney General and head of the Revenue Section of the North Carolina Department of Justice.

Saunders is a tax and business lawyer with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. He counsels primarily tax-exempt organizations, both charitable and non-charitable, on a multitude of federal and state tax controversy matters, estate planning, and tax-exempt financing.
