Brooks Pierce Expands With New Charlotte Office, Further Strengthening Service and Enhancing North Carolina Footprint
Brooks Pierce is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Charlotte, further building upon the firm’s 128-year legacy of service to North Carolina’s businesses and communities. Brooks Pierce is also excited to announce the additions of David Allen, Ben Chesson, and Anna Majestro, formerly of Allen Chesson, a boutique trial litigation practice, to the firm’s partnership. With these additions, Brooks Pierce now has more than 120 attorneys practicing across North Carolina from offices in Greensboro, Raleigh, Wilmington, and Charlotte.
“In one of the fastest-growing and vibrant metro areas in the country, Brooks Pierce will now have a presence and base from which to expand and enhance the work we’ve been doing in the Charlotte market for decades for our clients,” said Brooks Pierce Managing Partner Jimmy Adams. “We’re confident that the addition of this Charlotte office will further augment our firm’s full-service presence across the state.”
The move enhances Brooks Pierce’s “footprint” in the Tar Heel state by giving it a physical presence and resident attorneys in the state’s largest legal market, advancing the firm’s strategic vision. The addition not only means the firm now has an office presence in the three most populous cities in North Carolina and beyond but also deepens the firm’s litigation bench with the additions of Allen, Chesson, and Majestro.
Allen has over three decades of experience trying lawsuits, having empaneled nearly 100 juries during that time. A former president of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA), Allen is also an elected councilor of the North Carolina State Bar and a former chair of its Ethics Committee. In 2020, he won the NCADA Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and has been named to both the Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super Lawyers lists more than fifteen times each.
“I’m excited that the next chapter of our practice will be with a firm that I have long admired and appreciated for its commitment to and roots in North Carolina,” Allen said. “Brooks Pierce has always been a leader in the state’s legal community, and I’m honored to join the team at such an exciting time.”
Also establishing Brooks Pierce’s Charlotte office are fellow litigators Ben Chesson and Anna Majestro. Chesson’s trial practice encompasses a variety of cases and client industries, ranging from shareholder disputes to product warranty claims. He also has been regularly named to Best Lawyers in America® and Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” while at Allen Chesson and, before that, as a partner at a national law firm. Majestro, who is also licensed in West Virginia and South Carolina, focuses her practice on commercial litigation. After law school, Majestro clerked for a federal court in West Virginia and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America® and Super Lawyers.
“We are so excited to open our Charlotte office with David, Ben, and Anna,” Adams said. “We’ve crossed paths a handful of times in the past, and in every interaction, it was immediately obvious that they shared the same culture and values while representing the best of the best when it comes to litigators in North Carolina. We could not be more pleased to have them join our firm and look forward to enhancing our standing as an integral and growing part of the Charlotte community. We also look forward to adding talented attorneys around David, Ben, and Anna to fulfill our strategic vision of growing the firm’s Charlotte office into a full-service office, as we’ve successfully done in Raleigh and are doing in Wilmington.”
As the Charlotte office opens, clients can expect the same careful and thorough analysis and effective and innovative solutions they know to expect from Brooks Pierce, only now, those in North Carolina’s biggest city don’t have to travel far to get it.
“Opening in Charlotte isn’t just about being in a new city,” Adams said. “It’s about reinforcing our commitment to being where our clients need us most, with the right people and the right experience.”
