Brooks Pierce Partner Certified as a Specialist in Privacy and Information Security

Will Quick, a partner at Brooks Pierce, has been certified as a specialist in Privacy and Information Security Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization (NCBLS).

NCBLS was created by the North Carolina State Bar in 1983 to provide a method for qualified attorneys to become certified as specialists in the law. The North Carolina program is one of only 19 state legal certification programs in the United States and currently certifies attorneys in 12 different areas of law.

The specialty of privacy and information security law encompasses the laws that regulate the collection, storage, sharing, monetization, security, disposal and permissible uses of personal or confidential information about individuals, businesses and organizations as well as the security of information regarding individuals and the information systems of businesses and organizations. The specialty also includes legal requirements and risks related to cyber incidents, such as external intrusions into computer systems, and cyber threats, such as governmental information sharing programs.

Quick is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US who works with clients of all sizes to craft comprehensive privacy programs that fit the unique needs of their business. He also works with clients to implement appropriate response measures and provide the required notices in the event that a data breach occurs. Quick was selected as one of the American Bar Association’s 2019 On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers. He has been recognized as a 2019 “Rising Star” by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly and was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Young Guns category in Business North Carolina's “Legal Elite” in 2019.
