Brooks Pierce Sponsors Tariffs CLE for RTAC-ACC

Brooks Pierce will sponsor the “Essential Tariffs Steps for General Counsel” CLE Lunch and Learn on March 12 for the Research Triangle Area Chapter (RTAC) of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). The program will be presented by Brooks Pierce partner Charles Baldwin and Eric Babineaux, Executive Director, Senior Corporate Counsel, Commercial & Transactions at BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Topics include an overview of the legal framework around tariffs, including domestic law and international frameworks and tariff developments under the Trump administration, discussion of available exemptions, tips on how to keep apprised of changes, and best practices in negotiating and contracting with respect to tariff issues.

Baldwin uses his broad experience in cross-border transactions to advise businesses on international law, venture capital and transactional matters. He has diverse experience in international and transportation law and is recognized as one of the state’s leading attorneys in these areas. Baldwin represents corporations on a variety of cross-border issues, including imports, exports, cargo claims and Federal Maritime Commission matters.

The ACC is a global legal association that promotes the common professional and business interests of in-house counsel who work for corporations, associations and other organizations through information, education, networking, and advocacy. ACC has more than 48,000 members in 117 countries employed by over 12,000 organizations.

The RTAC-ACC includes all of Eastern North Carolina. The chapter provides a wide range of educational programs on topics relevant to in-house law practice such as crisis management, managing outside counsel, contracts 101, and intellectual property competitive intelligence.
