Brooks Pierce Sponsors Trends in Data Privacy Litigation CLE Lunch and Learn for RTAC-ACC
Brooks Pierce will sponsor the “Trends in Data Privacy Litigation” CLE Lunch and Learn on Dec. 3 for the Research Triangle Area Chapter (RTAC) of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC). Presented by Brooks Pierce partner Will Quick, the program will focus on recent developments in and the increasing likelihood of data breach, data privacy, and related consumer protection cases, including class actions arising under federal consumer protection statutes and the bevy of recently adopted comprehensive state-level consumer privacy laws. The presentation includes recent trends and strategies in data privacy, data security and consumer protection litigation and enforcement actions, recent high-profile settlements, and more.
Quick has a diverse litigation and regulatory practice, representing businesses and local governments in trial and appellate matters and before state agencies in North and South Carolina. He has a particular focus on litigating individual and class action claims following data breaches or alleging violations of state and federal consumer privacy protection laws concerning website tracking and wiretapping. He also advises clients on the design and implementation of privacy compliance programs and assists businesses with their response and notification obligations following data breaches, including ransomware attacks. Quick is a Board Certified Specialist in Privacy and Information Security Law from the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization.
