Brooks Pierce partner Ed Turlington and government relations advisor Drew Moretz spoke on April 21 at the North Carolina Technology Association’s (NC TECH) Government Vendor Network meeting. NC TECH is the statewide technology trade association and has over 600 members.
Turlington and Moretz provided updates to association vendor members on the 2026 North Carolina General Assembly session and its potential impact on technology companies. The update followed a presentation by Hugh Harris, Chief Legal and Acquisition Officer for the North Carolina Department of Information Technology.
Brooks Pierce has served as State Government Counsel to NC Tech since 2005 and represents several of the state’s leading technology companies. Turlington and Moretz advocate for the industry before the legislative and executive branches. These efforts include supporting expansion of broadband Internet service, improving technology procurement laws, and considering the regulation and use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Having served in key leadership positions in state and federal government, Turlington uses this experience to serve clients in a variety of industries, including health care, transportation and education. Much of his time is spent advising technology companies on legal issues and public policy matters.
Moretz provides public policy advice and legislative strategy to clients in a variety of industries. His experience as a lobbyist for the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the University of North Carolina system prepares him to communicate effectively on behalf of the firm’s clients to legislators, state regulatory agencies, and members of the executive branch. He is not licensed to practice law and does not provide legal advice.
