Brooks Pierce Attorney to Accept National Medal from White House

Will Quick, an associate in the Raleigh office of Brooks Pierce and president of the NC State Friends of the Library, has been invited to the White House as a member of the delegation that will accept the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service on behalf of the North Carolina State University Libraries.

First Lady Michelle Obama will present the award on June 1 to select institutions that demonstrate extraordinary and innovative approaches to public service.  The NC State Libraries is the first academic research library in 10 years to win the award, which has in the past honored public and university libraries, children's and science museums, and many other types of institutions.

Quick has been a member of the board of directors of the NC State Friends of the Library since 2009, where he serves alongside leaders from business, public policy, media, medicine, and other areas.  He was elected president in 2014, becoming the board's youngest president.

"I am honored to be a part of the delegation that will accept this award on behalf of the NC State Libraries.  We've built the model for a 21st century academic research library with great collections, robust public programming, and a collaborative environment that reflects the modern workplace.  I am proud to have been a part of something that I know positively affects the lives of students and other community members," Quick said.  "I am also proud to continue the great legacy of public service that runs through the core of Brooks Pierce.  Without firm support and encouragement, I would not have had the time to take on this leadership role and be a part of this exciting time in NC State history."

The NC State Friends of the Library was formed in 1947 and includes alumni, faculty, students, community members, and corporate partners committed to supporting the NC State Libraries and providing a competitive advantage for the NC State community.
